In the event of an emergency you need fire refuge signs to indicate accessible escape routes for the disabled.
Safe areas on a site should be accessible to the disabled and served by clearly marked exit routes. They should be identified with the use of a fire refuge sign in order to comply with the related information in the Disability Discrimination Act. A Fire Refuge sign shows the area within your premises by displaying a directional arrow and a wheelchair, with the words 'Refuge Point'
When an evacuation is needed in a shopping centre, offices, educational facilities and a cinema, for instance, wheelchair users and casualties should be directed clearly by having fire refuge signs to the nearest available assembly point, sometimes referred to as a muster point, and a place of safety.
